Moidart, Ardgour and Morven is the land bound by Loch Linnhe on the east, Loch Eil and Loch Eilt to the north, i.e., the land south of the A820 Fort William to Mallaig road, the sea to the west and the Sound of Mull to the south. It is an area, less frequented and wild with many rugged mountains, albeit of more modest height than the mainland Munros. However many are challenging and arduous to access. Morven and Ardgour are almost separated by the long narrow reach of Loch Shiel. A loch which was originally a sea loch until well after the last glacial period. Even today it is just a few metres above sea level.
